Calling all Intermediate-Advanced ceramicists! Made in Johnstown is hosting an “empty bowls” pottery throwing event to support local soup kitchens and non-profit! This bowl throwing event is setup competition style, with the grand prize & statue awarded to the contestant who makes the most bowls during their timeslot! There will also be a few “superlative” prize categories & winners that will be outlined on the day of the event.

This competition is open to up to 20 contestants (split into two categories, Beginner & Pro) and 100% of your entry fee will be donated to the soup kitchens and non-profits! All clay, throwing wheels and tools will be provided for you at the event.

Competition Structure:

  1. Each Pro potter will be scheduled for a 25 minute session (10mins for setup/breakdown + 15 minutes of bow throwing).

  2. Each potter will be assigned a “runner” (or potters can bring their own friend/family member. Please write in the comment section when checking out whether you will need a volunteer runner or will bringing your own) that will help get your clay, tools, etc. while you throw.
